After years of moving millions of gallons of product through digester tanks, it is inevitable that these tanks will need to get cleaned out and repaired. CFP staff has 7 digester cleanouts under our belt, along with numerous other smaller holding tank clean outs to boot. It is a dirty and sometimes dangerous job that takes proper planning and the right contractors and equipment. A digester tank cleanout can be one of the largest jobs on a digester facility which can result in the tank being off line for over a month. This is why knowledge of the process is so critical in reducing downtime.
This process includes decommissioning and isolation of the tank, cleanout and logistics, maintenance and repair, and re-commissioning. At the DCCD, CFP has taken advantage of cleanout projects to make performance modifications that have included, mixing equipment technology, monitoring devices, and roof structure.
