About the talk

When combined with phosphorus reduction technology, community manure digesters can be a powerful tool to protect our lakes. Since Dane County’s two digesters came online, they have kept thousands of pounds of phosphorus out of our lakes. However, we all know there’s no such thing a ‘magic bullet’ for our water quality woes.

What’s the future for this technology? Learn more at this month’s joint talk with a county expert and a digester operator. John Haeckel will give an introduction to digesters and how they work from the perspective of an owner and operator, and discuss the newly rededicated digester in the Village of Dane. Kevin Connors will discuss how digesters fit into the larger Dane County picture, including potential timelines and considerations for bringing additional digesters online.

If you already are a Friend of Clean Lakes (minimum $35 donation/year), then admission is free. Become a Friend today. If you are not a Friend yet, admission is $10 per event. Registration for each event is requested for all attendees. Special event parking will be available at The Edgewater.
